The Government Engineering College Barton Hill, Thiruvananthapuram, (short names: GEC, GECB) (Entrance Commissioner's Code: TRV), was founded by the Government of Kerala, India, in August 1999. The institution is located in Barton Hill, which is two kilometres from the city centre in Trivandrum. The Goethe-Zentrum Trivandrum was inaugurated on 28.11.2008 by His Excellency Stefan Graf, the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany. Since then, it has been functioning as a centre of excellence to promote German language and culture in Kerala. The Goethe-Zentrum Trivandrum is managed by a professional team of the Indo-German Language and Cultural Society, under the chairmanship of Mr. G. Vijaya Raghavan. Situated at Peringammala in the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram district, Iqbal College is the first college owned by the Muslim community in the district.
