THE UNIVERISTY OF THAPAR , PUNJAB (INDIA) *Thapar University* (TU) was established on 8 October 1956 as an Engineering College named Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology. It is a University established in 1985 vide Sec.3 of the UGC Act, 1956 under notification # F.9-12/84-U.3. The Thapar University is today recognized among the leading privately managed grant-in-aid engineering institutions of the country and the best of its kind in the north-western region of India. It came into existence in 1956 through an imaginative collaboration between the then State of Patiala and East Punjab States Union (PEPSU), the Central Government and the Patiala Technical Education Trust (PTET) founded by the great captain of Indian Industry, the Late Lala Karam Chand Thapar. The goals of the university as embodied in the Trust Deed dated April 9, 1956 are truly remarkable for their scope and vision. In a survey conducted by DataQuest, it was rated among the top 15 engineering schools in India. In 2006, India Today ranked Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology as 9th overall amongst the top most engineering institutes in the Country and 4th in North India. Our Lady of Fatima Convent High School is a convent school located in the city of Patiala in Punjab, India. The school is run by Catholic nuns who live on the school campus itself. The nuns, mostly belonging to the southern Indian state of Kerala, bought the small patch of land from the scion of the erstwhile State of Patiala back in 1960 and for more than 40 years have been working to provide quality education at an affordable price to the children of Patiala.

The War Decorated India (TWDI) is one of the most unusual organisation in India. Membership is not achieved by birth, social status, political appointment, wealth, academic achievement or other requirements that most societies and organisations demand. The War Decorated was organised on 01 august 1991, at Chandigarh, by a group of Sainiks; who had the honour of having received the Vir Chakra series of awards. Membership is limited to recipients of our Nation’s three highest decorations; awarded for a conspicuous show of gallantry and intrepidity in the face of enemy; for prowess shown above and beyond the call of duty. This determines who its members will be. The Aim & Objectives of the organisation include, besides bringing all holders toghether for their mutual welfare, to extend all possible relief to needy members, their widows, children & parents. Advancement of the best interests of members of the Armed Forces of India and to enhance their prestige, to stimulate patriotism in the minds of our youth and to promote allegiance to the Government of India; are some of the other objectives. It is inevitable, with members scattered widely all over India, that keeping in touch is difficult. But, the triennial National Convention-cum-Reunions, lasting a few days, give members an opportunity to make and maitain lasting friendships for sharing problems as well as happiness into the future.
