Introduction
The Punjab Institute of Technology, Hoshiarpur is one of the newly planned PITs by the Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar. These institutions are planned with the vision to spread quality education in the region which is vastly covered by Kandi area. PTU and its brain the PITs are committed to the cause of excellence in higher education in the field of Engineering, Technology and Management. In order to meet the urgent need of quality Technocrats and Managers in the market, the Punjab Technical University has decided to establish an institute in the name and style of Punjab Institute of Technology, Hoshiarpur for the benefit of Doaba belt of Punjab. This Institute will be committed for quality education in Engineering ,Technology & management to aspiring students.
School and college graduation rates are particularly distressing for minority students and students from low-income households. While college, according to most of these students, is a place everyone “should want to go,” many lack the academic background or experience with college- going friends and relatives that might help them acquire the skills necessary for success. Furthermore, the majority of their high schools are not, at this point, designed to prepare them for college to lack of infrastructure and teaching faculties.
The Punjab Institute of Technology, Hoshiarpur will provide the opportunity to these minorities and lower income students who otherwise has the talent but could not afford the expensive education. It will make them familiar with the needs of the modern society and teach them the technical advancements in the field of Engineering and Technology, to make them succeed in the professional environment.
Admissions
The admission process of Punjab Institute of Technology, Hoshiarpur will perform a college preparatory function and help students develop and articulate an educational plan, as well as begin to create connections with the college’s faculty and staff. In effect, admissions will serve as part of the transition to college.
The admissions will be done for 2nd year (Third Semester) for B.Tech C.S.E and Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering for the session 2013-14 with an intake of 60-60 seats in each stream through online counseling and direct admissions on merit basis from amongst the diploma holders in the beginning. Of course many more options will be made available to the students to apply in this new Technical college in the future.
We expect that the students applying to the new Technical college will need to strengthen and expand their skills in reading, writing and math
