Badlapur ( बदलापुर )
Badlapur was a travel route from Konkan to Gujarat, via Surat. The town was famous for its rich horse breeds. Warriors of "Shivaji Maharaj" used to change their horses here in anticipation of the difficult climbing through the Konkan area.
The word ‘Badla’ (Marathi word for “to change”) was linked to the town.
For the first time in 1971, Badlapur was recognised as a municipal town in the Ulhasnagar Tehasil.
City has seen a massive growth since 80s and since then the population has increased rapidly.

Badlpaur is surrounded by the natural beauty of hills and mountains. Railway line divides the city into two parts, East and West. The town is built on many hills, on the banks of Ulhas river.
Due to the population growth in the nearby cities, many people working in Mumbai suburbs have moved to Badlapur because of the affordable real estate prices, pleasant weather, beautiful location and quiet neighborhoods along with a proximity to Mumbai by local trains.
Now Badlapur city encompasses the Old Badlapur Village, Kulgaon, Manjarli, Belavali, Katrap and many other surrounding small villages.
बदलापूर हे महाराष्ट्र राज्यातील एक निसर्गसौंदर्याने नटलेले शहर आहे. ठाणे जिल्ह्यातील उल्हास नदी किनारी वसलेल्या या शहराला कुळगाव-बदलापूर या नावाने सुद्धा ओळखले जाते. मुंबई शहराशी बदलापूर शहर मध्य उपनगरीय रेल्वेसेवेने जोडलेले असुन, दक्षिणेस वांगणी तर उत्तरेस अंबरनाथ स्थानक आहे. मुळातले बदलापूर गाव हे बदलापूर रेल्वे स्थानकापासून जवळपास ५ किलोमीटर अंतरावर आहे. आज बदलापूर शहरात जुने बदलापूर गाव, कुळगाव, मांजर्ली, बेलवली, कात्रप आणि अनेक छोट्या गावांचा समावेश आहे.
इतिहास:
शिवाजी महाराजांच्या काळात बदलापूर हा सुरत मार्गे कोकण आणि गुजरात दरम्यान दळणवळणाचा मार्ग होता. उत्तम प्रजातींच्या घोड्यांसाठी हे शहर प्रसिद्ध होते. कोकण प्रदेशातल्या कठीण चढाईसाठी शिवाजी महाराजांचे योद्धे येथे घोडे बदलायचे. यावरूनच हे शहर बदलापूर या नावाने ओळखले जाऊ लागले. १९७१ साली उल्हासनगर तालुक्यातील या शहरात नगरपालिकेची स्थापना करण्यात आली.
आकर्षणे:
बदलापु्र परीसरातील ६५.१५ मीटर उंचीचे बारवी धरण हे बदलापूर स्थानका पा्सून सुमारे १६ किलोमीटर अंतरावर असलेले एक विशाल जलाशय स्त्रोत आहे. बदलापूर, अंबरनाथ, उल्हासनगर, अंबरनाथ, मुरबाड येथील औद्योगिक वसाहतींना या धरणातून पाणीपुरवठा केला जातो दरवर्षी बारवी धरणाच्या पाणलोट क्षेत्रात २८०० ते ३००० मिमी. पावसाची नोंद होते. ब्यारेज आणि कुन्देश्वर ह्या धरणां व्यतिरीक्त बदलापूर स्थानकापासुन सुमारे ८ किलोमीटर अंतरावर चिखळोली धरण आहे, या धरणांच्या परिसरातील निसर्गामुळे छोट्या सहलीसाठी जवळपासच्या शहरांतून पर्यटक येथे येतात.
