“HR should be defined not by what it does, but by what it delivers.”
- DAVID UL
"People are our greatest assets" is a mantra that companies have been chanting for years. Only recently, businesses have started putting HR policies in a place that support this philosophy. In today's competitive business environment, company workforces are in a continual state of change - skill sets and job requirements as well as the regulatory environment, change at such a rapid pace that the staff needs of tomorrow are very different to those of today.
Leading Fortune 500 companies have shown that turnarounds in businesses in tight recruiting markets can happen by aggressive tactics, innovation, and regular use of creative HR approaches.
HR, instead of being the mouthpiece of all management decisions, is now taking on the frontal role of bringing the employee and the management closer. The two things that are helping HR to do so in today’s world are INNOVATION & SUSTAINABILITY.
“Innovation has nothing to do with how many R&D dollars you have. When Apple came out with the Mac, IBM was spending at least 100 times more on R&D. It's not about money. It's about the people you have, how you're led, and how much you get it.”
-Steve Jobs
Sustainability is a commitment by organizations to balance financial performance with contributions to the quality of life of their employees, the society at large and environmentally sensitive initiatives. HR practices should be in line with the overall strategy of the business. It should be sustainable and innovative at the same time.
The summit is aimed at identifying such innovation and sustainability measures brought about in various organizations currently.
