The Dehradun valley is one of the most serene and peaceful cities in India. It is the gateway to Uttarakhand and also to the world famous mountain ranges like the Shivaliks, the Himalayas and of course the Queen of hills Mussourie. The quite environment and picturesque view of hills makes it an ideal place to live closely with nature. The climate is soothing round the year, not too cold due to bright sunny days in winters and not too hot in summers being in close proximity with hills and rains. The average temperature ranges from 18 to 28 Degree Celsius.
The city is well known for education standards at HSC and SSC levels. The enchanting city is one of the oldest cities of India and is the Capital of newly created state Uttarakhand. Many major national institutes and organizations like ONGC, Survey Of India, Forest Research Institute, Indian Institute of Petroleum, Indian Military Academy and an upcoming IT park are based in the city.
Dehradun is the widest valley in the world and is located between the lower Himalayan mountain range in the north and Shivalik Hills in the south, the river Ganga in the east, and the river Yamuna in the west. The water divide of Ganga and Yamuna passes through the city. Dehradun is located 230 kilometers north of India’s capital New Delhi and the Delhi metropolitan area (Delhi NCR).
