St Joseph's School, Bhagalpur, Bihar, India, is an English Medium School at Bhagalpur. It is associated with the ICSE board of education. It was established in 1983 by Rt. Rev Urban Mc Garry, the first Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Bhagalpur.The principal is Fr. Varghese Panangatt. The school is managed by the Catholic Diocese of Bhagalpur.The school is equipped with a basketball court, a games field, a computer lab and three science labs.The motto of the school is Excellence, Virtue and Discipline.HistoryHis Lordship Rt. Rev Urban Mc Garry, the first Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Bhagalpur started an English Medium Co-Education school in Bhagalpur on 15 November 1982 and invited Sisters of St. Ann of Providence from Secunderabad as a core team to assist him.On 2 February 1983, Bishop Mc Garry blessed and inaugurated the new school with L.K.G and U.K.G classes. Fr. Varghese Panangatt, Ph.D. was appointed as the principal of the school and Fr. Joseph Thanniparampil as its Secretary. Srs. Alice, Loretta and Joyce joined as first teaching staff with other teachers.The school received No Objection Certificate from the Government of Bihar on 11 May 1992 and later became affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi on a provisional basis, on 30 September 1992. The school received permanent affiliation on 17 January 1997.The Senior Secondary (Plus Two) Section of School was inaugurated on 5 July 2005 under ISC curriculum with commerce and science streams. The first batch of Plus two students appeared in 2007 board examination.
