Principal S.M. College is famous for quality education and unblemished conduct of examinations and good results. Over Seven Thousand students study in different faculties of Arts, Science, Commerce and various U.G.C. Sponsored Vocational Courses like Computer Applications, Office Management & Secretarial Practice, Functional Hindi and Simple Spoken Sanskrit, right from intermediate to graduate level. Recently under Bihar Entrepreneurship Development Programme N.T.T., Food Preservation and Food Processing, Health and Hygiene, Beautician Course, Arts and Craft Courses have been introduced. There are altogether twenty three disciplines under which students are being trained by a band of dedicated teachers of the college. Post Graduate teaching both in Arts and Science faculties was done from year 1985 to the session 1997-1999. However it was closed by the order of the Government of the Bihar in the year 2000. The college has five hostels, which provide accommodation to more than a thousand students. Thanks to Bihar Government, a separate hostel for Post Graduate students named after the founder Principal also came into being. It houses more than a hundred students. The Welfare Hostel of the college has three buildings which accommodate about two hundred and fifty students. Recently a new hostel building has been constructed and inaugurated. Several steps have been taken to renovate the dilapidated condition of some of the hostel buildings. The college has also a health centre and a canteen, which cater to the needs of staff and students of the college.

Rev Urban Mc Garry, the first Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Bhagalpur started an English Medium Co-Education school in Bhagalpur on 15 November 1982 and invited Sisters of St. Ann of Providence from Secunderabad as a core team to assist him.On 2 February 1983, Bishop Mc Garry blessed and inaugurated the new school with L.K.G and U.K.G classes. Fr. Varghese Panangatt, Ph.D. was appointed as the principal of the school and Fr. Joseph Thanniparampil as its Secretary. Srs. Alice, Loretta and Joyce joined as first teaching staff with other teachers.The school received No Objection Certificate from the Government of Bihar on 11 May 1992 and later became affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi on a provisional basis, on 30 September 1992. The school received permanent affiliation on 17 January 1997.The Senior Secondary (Plus Two) Section of School was inaugurated on 5 July 2005 under ISC curriculum with commerce and science streams. The first batch of Plus two students appeared in 2007 board examination.

Bihar's No. 1 Polytechnic College

I am proud that I have done my schooling from C.M.S. High school between 1996-2001.The administration of principals like T.S.Job and Ashok lal and dedicated team of teachers like Ram Awtar Sir(Hindi),Lahiri Sir, S.R Kazmi( Science), Upadhya (Sanskrit) and Ram Swarup sir(maths) has lifted the morals of its students.I don't how the school is running in present scenario but I have a great respect for this school. In year 2010 when I visited my school along with my friends, I was called by the Principal in his cabin which I was not expecting atall.My eyes were wet when I got the respect which I am supposed to get because after passing out from this school,I have never been to see the pathetic condition of the school.In the pin drop silence in the assembly hall,my eyes were searching and reminding me about our beloved Principal Mr.Job.The museum condition is ruined.The tower clocks which we used to oil every Friday, is not functional now.All this is happening due to shortage of funds and lack of supervision. We the proud students of this school must do something about it.
