Kakatiya Institute of Technology and Science is affiliated to the Kakatiya University, Warangal. In the year 1986, the Kakatiya University accorded permanent affiliation to the Institue. Consequent to this, the University Grants Commission included this Institute in the list of colleges approved under section 2(f) of the UGC Act 1956 and declared that the Institute is fit to receive Central assistance under section 12(b) of the UGC Act 1956. The Institute also received the approval of AICTE. From the academic year 1992-93 the Institute adopted a revised curriculum with a broad based core component, departmental compulsory courses, streamed professional electives, open electives, colloquium and project work consistent with the Model curriculum evolved by the AICTE. The curriculum also takes into due consideration the requirements of GATE, Engineering Services examinations of UPSC and other recruitment tests. Semester system (except in the 1st year) with a significant tutorial component is adopted for all the programmes conducted at the Institute.
