St.Mary's Academy, Meerut Cantt.
St. Mary’s Academy is a Private Senior Secondary School located in the leafy suburbs of Meerut Cantt., Uttar Pradesh. It is run by the Society of the Brothers of St. Patrick, which was founded in Ireland in the year of our lord 1808.
The School’s motto is ‘Rectis Corde Laetitia,’ which means, ‘Joy to the Upright of Heart’.
St. Mary’s considers the formation of character the most important component of a good educational system, and therefore lays great stress on the inculcation of high ideals, gentlemanly behaviour and moral rectitude among its students.
The school attaches great importance to a varied programme of activities outside the ordinary class routine. These are designed to develop important traits of character like honesty, self-confidence, co-operation and hard work to promote latent talents for leadership and responsibilities. Proper use of the library and audio-visual facilities is ensured. Debates, elocution contests and dramatics are some of the cultural activities held regularly. Physical training, games and athletics are employed with the aim of promoting physical culture and a healthy spirit of competition. Physical training, gymnastics and outdoor games are compulsory for all students who are physically fit. Team spirit is nurtured and students proudly wear their house colours and take part in athletics, games and enhanced competition. Athletics and inter-school tournaments are also organised.
The courses of study follow the pattern of the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (I.C.S.E) and the Indian School Certificate (l.S.C) Examination, conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi.
Over the years, St. Mary’s alumni, known as the 'Marians', have made a name for themselves in all walks of life, and can be found in fields as diverse as those of the Army, Medicine, Journalism, Law, Information Technology, Healthcare, Education, Social Service and Government.
The St. Mary's School Song:
"The school of St. Mary's, our hope and our pride,
Where from the bright morning to calm eventide
In work ever earnest and keen happy play
We grow mind and muscle, more manly each day.
REFRAIN: The School of St. Mary's
Ah! Hear it is calling
The young lives, the true lives
The brave and the free
With comrades beloved and courage ne'er failing
Fair school days shall roll on, roll on
For you and me.
The porch of St. Mary's is for me and for you
Is the porch to our lives that will ever be true
Though far away in the world our footsteps may roam
To God and our country, our school and our home."
