City-Dhanbad

Dhanbad - Jharkhand, Dhanbad ,
Dhanbad is a city in the state of Jharkhand. It is the Coal Capital of India. Dhanbad is famous for coal mining. Tata Steel, BCCL, ECL and IISCO (Indian Iron And Steel Company) are some of the companies having coal mines in the district. The Indian School of Mines is located in Dhanbad. Among the rail divisions of Indian Railway, Dhanbad Rail Division is the second largest in terms of revenue generation after Mumbai division. Originally the name of Dhanbad was Dhanbaid, which seems to have been derived from the word Dhan (paddy) and baid, i.e., the paddy land. The Dhanbad originated from the district of Manbhum occupied by Mundari or Kolarian races in the wilderness of South undivided Bihar. In the seventh century A.D. some information is available from the account of the travels of Hieun Tsang. These accounts narrate existence of a powerful kingdom which comprised the district and adjoining areas, ruled by Sasanka. Dhanbad is one of the busiest commercial centres in India. It is the second largest city and urban agglomeration in Jharkhand after Jamshedpur.

De-Nobili School C.F.R.I.

digwadih No-12, Dhanbad ,
De Nobili School is a school located in Dhanbad, India. The De Nobili School shield displays part of a Sanskrit sloka Vidya Dadati Vinaym (Education Bestows Humility) in Devanagari script in the scroll under the school shield.[1] The school is named after an enigmatic Jesuit, Roberto de Nobili, who was the first foreigner master Sanskrit, incognito, in sixteenth century Madurai Madurai. He apparently conducted himself like an orthodox Brahmin and is even said[2] to have declared himself to be a descendant of Brahma. Vidya Dadati Vinayam is the opening fragment from the sixth verse[3] of the preface to Hitopadeśa, Hitopadesha a collection of fables that provide "Good Advice". The entire verse translates to[4] "Knowledge giveth humility, from humility he attaineth worth, From worth, wealth he attaineth, from wealth the power of being religious, from thence happiness". Through a Sanskrit sloka, a Catholic School in India, named after a "Brahmin Jesuit", managed to imply that "being happy" and "being religious" comes after the "attainment of wealth". Perhaps the Puritanical influence on the American Jesuits who founded the School would explain this. Past Principals 1956 - 1962 Fr. (Late) F. X. McFarland, S.J. 1963 - 1979 Fr. George A.
