The Central University of Punjab is a Central University located in Bathinda, Punjab, India. It has been established through an Act of Parliament: “The Central Universities Act, 2009" by Govt. of India. The territorial jurisdiction of Central University of Punjab is whole of the State of Punjab.The Central Universities Bill 2009 aims at creating one new central university each in Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu. It also seeks to convert Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya in Chhattisgarh, Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya in Sagar and Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University in Uttarakhand into Central universities.

Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences & Research at NH-64, Barnala Road, Bathinda, Punjab is a recognized institution of MCI with an annual intake capacity of 150 students in MBBS course in 2006 and MD / MS post graduate courses in Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Community Medicine, Pharmacology with the approval of Medical Council of India and with the affiliation of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot. The institution has successfully imparted medical education for the last five consecutive years and has since been accorded permanent recognition by Govt. of India. The advanced teaching hospital is equipped with all modern diagnostic and treatment facilities in all clinical specialities and some super-specialities. The hospital has a bed strength of 700 besides 20 private rooms, ICU, ICCU, Neonate Nursery, Dialysis, Burn Unit and Emergency Care unit. The hospital has the facilities for providing round the clock uninterrupted Emergency, ICU/ ICCU/ ICRU/ NICU/ PICU & Intensive Surgical Care Units and has 12 ultramodern Operation Theatres with latest equipment, modern automated Laboratories, Dialysis, Blood Bank, Cancer Unit, Deaddiction Center etc. Presently, the hospital is providing speciality medical services in Medicine, Paediatrics, TB & Chest diseases, Skin & VD, Psychiatry, General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and super-speciality medical services in Neuro Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Gastroentrology, Urology, Cardiology, Nephrology and Oncology. The Institution has also established an Urban Health Training Center at Bucho Mandi, District Bathinda and a Rural Health Training Center at village Bhallaiana, District Muktsar as per the norms of Medical Council of India which serves local population and provides training to the interns, UG and PG students. The Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Bathinda has also started Post Graduate programmes in pre and para clinical subjects with approval of Govt. of Punjab for an annual intake of 46 seats under affiliation of the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot. The Medical Council of India has awarded permissions for MD/MS courses in Pre and Para clinical specialties from the session 2011-12. The college has also been granted Essentiality Certificate to start Post Graduate programmes in Clinical subjects for an annual intake of 67 students for which the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot has granted its consent of affiliation from session 2012-13.

In November 2003 we established Noujawan Welfare Society (Regd.) Bathinda. Now in our society have more than 100 volunteers who are giving their services very devotedly and now this Organization is source of inspiration for our society. Services Provided by our Organization :- ---------------------------------------------------- 1. Bring out rotten dead bodies from canals and lakes. 2. Respectful cremation of unclaimed dead bodies. 3. Take care and treatment of injured animals. 4. Plantation. 5. Eye Donation. 6. Get the Victims of road accidents admitted in the hospitals and provide them treatment. 7. Arrangement of cold water in the different areas of the city in the summer season. 8. Catching snakes from residential areas. 9. Organize blood donation camps & donate blood during emergency. 10. During Winter, facilities are provided like warm clothes , blankets, tea and bread to the homeless or orphans. 11. Various programs are held to make our youth aware against drugs. *With the help of Shri Surinder Singla (Finance Minister,Punjab) we bought 1st Ambulance ( Maruti Omni) in 2005 and 2nd one(Force Traveler ) in 2006. *With the help of Shri Avtar Singh Samadhbhai (Chairman Lal Singh Dhillon Memorial Society & Director PACL India Ltd. Zone Punjab) we bought 3rd Ambulance (Tata Winger) and 4th one ( Mahindra 550) Jeep *5th Ambulance (Maruti Omni) bought with the help of Smt.Gurinderpal Kaur Mangat w/o Er.Jaswinder Singh Mangat (M.C Ward No.1 Bathinda). *6th Ambulance (Maruti Omni) was Purchased by the contribution of kind donors.
