About Bhatinda Airport
Bhatinda Airport History:
Bhatinda Airport is now being reconstructed from an Air force station and is categorized under civil enclave by the airport authority of India. Earlier it was Bhisiana Airforce Station and was used as the base of Indian Air Force. New domestic terminal is nearly completed and work is going on to build the new terminals. This airport is still not active but some private jets take flight from here for government purposes only. A total loan sanction of Rs. 25 crore has been provided to make this airport. The new facilities to be provided in airport include international terminals and VIP lounges as per government announcements.
Bhatinda Airport Terminals:
Terminal 1 - New Domestic: Bhatinda airport will soon be active with its new domestic terminal which is complete and will resume flights from here in the near future. It will cover all the major domestic cities and cargo operations from all over India.
Terminal 2 - Under construction: Other terminals of Bhatinda airport are still under construction and will resume their services in the near future. International terminal will open soon after the completion of construction work.
Facilities at Bhatinda Airport:
Baggage Services: Baggage services to be resumed in near future on Bhatinda airport include free trolley services, lost and found baggage counters, VIP baggage service area and x-ray scanners for security purposes. All new services will be available once domestic terminal will resume its services.
Places to Shop and Eat: There will be various eating joints which will be made available to the customers who will take flights from Bhatinda airport. Shopping areas will be made for the customers as proposed by the AAI.
Duty Free Shopping: There is no information as such on the duty free shops in Bhatinda airport though we can expect few duty free shops as this airport is amongst the new ones which will be equipped will all latest services and facilities.
Connectivity with the City from Bhatinda Airport
Bus Stand: Bhatinda city bus stand is nearly 20 km from the new airport and there will be frequent shuttle services which will resume from the airport to bus stand in the near future.
Railway Station: Railhead of Bhatinda is located at a distance of 7.5 km from Bhatinda airport and will soon be directly connected with taxi services, shuttle services and state bus services.
Bhatinda Airport Authority:
Bhatinda airport is under the category of civil enclave and hence new airport authority has been established to look after the work which is going on to make this airport a state of art facility. Airport authority of India is the main authority over it and carries out services directly for now.
