Barpeta Road (Assamese: বৰপেটা ৰোড) is a city and a municipal board in Barpeta district in the state of Assam, India. It is one of the most important business places of Assam.
Location
Barpeta Road is situated Near Guwahati (Distance-130 KM). It is situated in western Assam,(lower Assam)27 Km far from Dist HQ of Barpeta.it is said to be the trade town of lower Assam.

As of 2001 India census,[2] Barpeta Road had a population of 35,281. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Barpeta Road has an average literacy rate of 74%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 57% of the males and 43% of females literate. 11% of the population is under 6 years of age. There are several educational schools and colleges like St. Mary's High School, Manas Valley Academy(private), Marian School, Shree Hindi High School, Gopinath Bordoloi High School,Dr-K.K.das girls high school, Sajanikanta Higher Secondary School, Ramdhenu Academy(private), Dronacharya Academy(private college), G.L.C.College, B.H. College. Out of the above mentioned institution B.H college is one of the best degree college of assam. a few km from Barpeta Road Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya a central government school is there. Barpeta Road Railway station is the nearest station.The River Beki passes through Barpeta Road city.The city is the gateway to Manas National Park which is situated only at a distance of 18 km from it.Manas National Park habours 55 mammals, 36 reptiles and 450 species of Birds and has the unique feature of having most number of Endangered species found in India.
