Tangkhul Katamnao Long Imphal, an apex body of all tangkhul students' union Imphal was formed by the tangkhul students who resides in Imphal, the capital of Manipur, in the year 1932. The motto of the Union is "Learn and Shine". TKLI is a non-political and non-profit making organisation which was registered under Manipur Society Registration Act XXI of 1860 on 26 Dec. 1977, having a registration no. 2336/77. TKLI acts both as a Law abiding Organisation and Welfare Organisation. Since its inception TKLI has been striving to be a model Organisation and now it can be proudly said that this dream is almost fulfilled. Now TKLI is being lauded as the second biggest body of all Tangkhul Students Union. TKLI is known for its courage, capabilities and ethnic cultural identities. It is the result of the dedicated works of our brothers and sisters and senior activists which from a very humble beginning has come to the position as it is today. Some of the Objectives are: i). To preserve and protect our customs, culture and tradition which is valuable to us. ii). To arrange and held periodic lectures, discussions, seminars, conference, sports meet, workshops etc, for mental and physical development of the students. iii). To become an active agent for peace and harmony with all communities.

In this age of information, mass media command considerable influence on our society. Along with this the importance and scope of journalism and mass communication as a discipline has seen a rapid rise across the globe. Consequently, a gradual increase can be seen in the responsibility and respect for the people involved with this profession. It has become one of the driving forces of social and economic changes in our country. Assam and the North-East region as a whole too has been touched by the growing popularity and significance of newspapers, satellite television channels and FM radio stations with more and more players entering these various fields. Every year these newspaper organisations, satellite television channels and other media organizations require trained and skilled journalism professionals to meet their specific work needs. Meanwhile, many educational institutes providing journalism and mass communication courses have cropped up in the state yet their curriculum does not give due importance to region’s society and culture. Furthermore, having a serious lack in the functionality of the theoretical learning many students who pass out with good percentage from these institutes fail to get placement in the various existing organisations. In contrast to these institutes, the educational agenda of “Assam School of Journalism” has specifically incorporated local language, literature, society, culture along with special and prime importance to practical area of all the different facets journalism and mass communication and has come up with a well rounded curriculum. Meanwhile, observing the recent fall in the ethical or moral quarters of the journalistic profession “Assam School of Journalism” has given particular weightage to a healthy, value based and holistic approach to the imparting of journalistic knowledge. This educational institution is being managed by Pratyasha Foundation, Assam, a government registered Trust.

SRI SAILA KHETRA, ANGUL A beautiful temple complex has been constructed on Sunasagada Hill top at Angul. The main temple has Mukhasala , Jagamohan, Natyamandir and a Garvagriha . Lord Balabhadra, Lord Jagannath and Devi Subhadra are worshiped in the main temple . Godess Laxmi , Bimala, Sarawati are worshiped in this complex . This temple complex attracts a lot of visitors through out the year. Bhoomi Puja for the construction of this temple held on 15th Feb, 1994. The foundation stone was laid on 21st Feb,1996. Ratnamandira was completed on 14th July,97. Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra were installed on Ratnasinghasan on 22nd Feb, 2002. The first Car festival was observed on 12th July,02. The main temple has a spread of 7500 sq. ft. It is 111 ft. tall. Car festival and other festivals associated with Lord Jagannath are observed in Sri Saila Khetra. The Temple is managed by a Society headed by Collector, Angul as ex-officio President.
