Work India Club (WIC) is an organization, started with an aim of bringing people from all age together and tries to bring about a social reform that many people only talk of. WIC is a brainchild of Navneesh Makkad, a second year BA (Politics) student from Nowrosjee Wadia College Pune, who strived hard to gather people from all backgrounds with zeal to work for society in her known and close circles to start the activities for the social cause. Founded on 5th July 2013 with a motto “Towards a Change”, WIC started its never ending journey of social activities with "Feed the Needy" initiative, in which packets of healthy food were distributed to hundreds of homeless and unattended roadside beggars across Pune in areas like Railway stations, Bus stations, Market places etc. WIC has vowed together to keep this activity fixed and carried out on every Sunday across the city. WIC welcomes everybody to be a part of it, irrespective of their membership with the club, or affiliations to any other organizations. In near future WIC has planned a set of events as follows - Rag picking in the Heritage Places of Pune. - Door to Door awareness for opposing female feticide. - Door to Door awareness on essence of education, in slum areas and helping them with the enrollment into schools. - Computer Literacy Camps for free in rural places. - Awareness camps for traffic safety. - Making youth aware of their rights and make them understand the importance of voting. - Debates on topics of national interests. - Self Defense Training to girls from schools and colleges for free. - Creating awareness of sanitation and precautions to be taken to avoid spreading of diseases. - Making available books and study materials to economically weaker section of students. - Spreading awareness about Adult Education. The set of events have been planned considering the main and serious issues in the present scenario and according to the priority of tackling them. For a better society of our future generation, we invite every citizen of this nation to come and be a part of these activities. Membership to club is open all round the year for students, working class people, senior citizens and every other citizens irrespective of their caste, creed, gender or religion. THE EKAM FOUNDATION is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India that works to increase the availability of pediatric medical care and resources, strengthening local networks and empowering families to prioritize health. Ekam was formally inaugurated on Doctor’s Day in 2007 as a Community Pediatric Project of the Confederation of Indian Organizations for Service and Advocacy (CIOSA), and initiative of the MaFoi Foundation. Following our mission to serve as a complement to the government systems, on November 14, 2008, we established a unique private-partnership model with the health department. In August of 2009, Ekam became a separate organization. Our approach to bettering community pediatric and maternal health is characterized by work in government hospitals that are free to the public, private hospitals, and local communities around Tamil Nadu.
