Government Inter College Bijnor
Government Inter College, Bijnor (Hindi: राजकीय इण्टर कॉलेज, बिजनौर) or more popularly know as GIC Bijnor, was established by the British as "Bijnor District School". According to the government records, it was functioning as a Primary School since 1872, However, the students' records are present in the college only since 1881.
That time, Uttar Pradesh was known as North-Western Province & Avadh, and there was no Education Department as such. GIC used to come under the Department of Public Instructions.
The very first student who enrolled into the college was Jyoti Prasad Kayasth, son of Shri Bhagirath Prasad Kayasth, who was a resident of Bijnor.
It was in 1905 that it was recognised as a High School, and then went on to become a full fledged Intermediate college in the year India became a Republic, 1950.
The school is affiliated to "Board of High School and Intermediate Education" (Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad), Allahabad, UP, and is accredited to teach the following subjects:
* Higher Secondary Classes-
- Hindi, English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Arts, Commerce, & Computers.
* Senior Secondary Classes-
- Humanities Stream: English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Geography, Economics, and Civics.
- Science Stream: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, and Computers.
- Commerce Stream: Accounts, Banking Elements, and Business Organisation.
- Trade Stream: Library Science, Automobiles, Basic Health Worker (Male), and Accountancy & Numeration.
# The school also provides its students a chance to serve the nation via giving them an opportunity to join the National Service Scheme (NSS) and the National Cadet Corps (NCC), 30 UP BN NCC (Army Wing). The students can also participate actively in the Bharat Scouts and Guides (BSG).
