About LEDeG
Ladakh Ecological Development Group (LEDeG) was formed in 1978 by likeminded people through the ‘Ladakh Project’. Later, it was registered under the Societies Registration Act VI in the Indian State of Jammu & Kashmir in 1983. Since then, LEDeG has been working as a Non-Government Organization, mainly in the fields of appropriate technologies, using renewable energy, preservation of local Ladakhi culture, traditional agriculture, horticulture and handicrafts.Our vision is animated by a strong desire to be a self-relient, nationally and also internationally known organisation. LEDeG has accordingly always tried to encourage a sound development strategy for Ladakh with its sustainability embedded in harmonization of all development policies with the local traditions, culture and the unique ecological environment.

Our Mission Statement
To promote Ecological and Sustainable Development of Ladakh mainly focussing on appropriate technologies using renewable energies, preservation and enhancement of local culture, traditions and religion of the region; innovation, dissemination and implementation of local agricultural practices of Ladakh; encouraging and empowering rural women with income generation activities and actively carrying out awareness programmes about environment, culture and development in the region.
