Library is the nerve-centre and the heart of the vidyalaya and plays a vital role in supporting, teaching and learning activities, and provides the main source for individual demand at KV AFS BKT. Library is meant to help academic community to keep abreast with the latest development in their area of activities and to provide information support for regular study and academic activities. At the same time for students, library is a source to get information support for their course curriculum as well as for their self-development. A well-stocked full automated library equipped with latest books and magazines on fiction, non –fiction, science & commerce stream related area.
The Library & Resource Center of Kendriya Vidyalaya AFS BKT Lucknow is a spacious and beautiful with a wealth of offers for those who seek information. The Library & Resource Centre is a part of the Vidyalaya and offers access to Books, Periodicals, CDs & the internet with the automation software e-Granthalaya 3.0 V24 powered by NIC New Delhi . The library is open to all working hours of the vidyalaya and this gives students a rich opportunity to pursue their studies at any hour. This flexibility is often needed when trying to juggle a busy life of studying and maintaining a social life as well.
The School Library of Kendriya Vidyalaya, AFS BKT Lucknow caters to the information needs of 602 students and 31 staff members of the Vidyalaya. With a collection of 4225 judiciously selected books, 32 periodicals and Educational Multimedia the library complement the teaching learning process inspiring the students to dream high. The School Library is fully automated with the Library Management Software “e-GRANTHALAYA 3.0 V24” powered by National Informatics Center New Delhi & Recommended by KVS Delhi.

Library Activities
Book Review Writing Competition: Book Review writing Competition is being organized by the Readers Club, LRC. The students/users from class VI to VIII is being participated.
Scrap Book Preparation: Scrap Book is being prepare among the groups in the various classes from V to X. The Readers Club is managing to organize the activity.
Career & Counseling:- Various seminars/ lectures is being by conducting in LRC, Activity Room and Prayers Assembly Programme by Career & Counseling Club, Library & resource center, KV AFS BKT Lucknow.
Book Exhibition: A Book Exhibition is being organized in the library in connection with World Book and Copyright Day with the cooperation of various books & NBT New Delhi
Reading Achievement Certificates:- Two students from each section were selected on the basis of number of books read and overall utilization of library resources and were awarded Reading Achievement Certificates.
Group Quiz Competition:- Group Quiz competitions for classes VI to XI were organized in LRC at various dates and Result of Group Quiz competitions were appreciated by the principal

PRIMARY CLASS LIBRARY
The Primary Class Library plays a special role in the School. It provides books and other print materials and multi-media resources to meet the instructional needs of the community. These resources are properly manipulated and fully utilized with the expertise of the media librarians and skilled Library staff.
This is intended for the Class – I to Class V students. It includes picture books, story books, Rhyming book and children's reference materials. Every Class Teachers are playing the role of Librarian, they are organizing their class library by issued 60 books per class, Champak Magazines & CD-ROMs. They (Class Teachers) are really inculcating the reading habits with the help of Class Library among the budding authors to
AREAS
Circulation Area - This is place where books and other library materials are loaned out. The On-line Public Access Catalog (OPAC) is available for client's use.
Reference Section- It houses up-dated reference resources like encyclopedias, dictionaries, almanacs, yearbooks, atlases, directories, etc. Vertical file materials are located here.
Reading Area - It houses the general collection of books (books on generalities to history and biographies). Issues of children's journals and periodicals can also be found here.
Fiction Book Section - Books written by Drama, Novel, Poem, Prose, Short Story and Humore & satire authors. (Including Nency Dew/ Enid Blyton/ Newbery award-winning books and classic books)
Non Fiction Section - Home reading books are found here. A comfortable reading area is also provided here.
Periodicals Area - Back issues of periodicals for children are shelved here.
Faculty Section - Professional books, journals, periodicals, manuals and guide books for teachers' instructional needs and professional growth are stationed here.
Technical Services - This is a working area where books are technically processed: collating, stamping, accessioning, classifying and cataloging.
LIBRARY SERVICE HOURS:
The Library is open in all working days (from Monday to Saturday) at 8:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. On 2nd Saturday it is being closed.
CONTROL PROCEDURES
Upon entrance, each student deposits her bag in the shelves provided near the door. Only writing materials may be brought inside the Library.
Likewise, all library clientele are requested to have their books and other materials checked by the librarian/library staff upon exit.
GUIDELINES OR LIBRARY RULES
The library adopted a set of KVS rules for its proper functioning of Library & Resource Center.
1. All students and staff of the school are members of the library.
2. A student can borrow only two books at a time for a period of one week.
3. A staff member can borrow maximum five books at a time for a period of one fortnight.
4. Books will be issued to the students, during the library periods. No book will be issued or returned during the teaching hours.
5. Marking, underlining or writing on library books, periodicals, and newspapers is strictly forbidden.
6. Reference books and current periodicals will not be issued to any member. These can be consulted only in the library.
7. I
