St. Anthony's College is an educational institution in the north eastern part of India, established in 1934. The Salesians of Don Bosco, an International Society founded by St John Bosco (1815–1888) in Italy, has more than 17,000 members who are known as Salesians of Don Bosco. They are in present 125 countries, and specialize in education and social service institutions for youth. Founded in 1934, St Anthony’s College has the distinction being the first institution of higher learning established by the Salesians world-wide.HistoryGuided by the religious and educational philosophy of St. John Bosco, and born of the vision of a Don Bosco Father, Fr. Joseph Bacchiarello, St. Anthony's College was founded in 1934 with the mission of 'bringing college education within the reach of common man and woman'. Ever since, the college has been nurtured by the Salesians of Don Bosco.The college has been reaccredited with "A" grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an autonomous body of University Grants Commission, India. The CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) came to 3.60 out of 4.0, giving the college the sum of 90%, making the college the one of highest graded in the north east and east of the country.St. Anthony's has been recognized as one among the top colleges of the country. The college is recognized as a College with Potential for Excellence (CPE), by the UGC.
